1 44th Club Year March 2017 Message from our President Cody Soroptimist News March means..march Madness, spring is around the corner after we endure some more howling winds, spring break, and WINE TAST- ING!!!! Be prepared for some fun on March 18 th and get your outfit to go with our Peace Love and Wine theme! We will have 16 wines, grasshoppers, lots of beer from Tanager, and loads of live and silent auction items! Please be sure to sign up to help! Below is a LOT OF INFORMATION about the event how and where you can help, times, dates, etc. A list of our wines is on page 3! Our live auction items are also included in the newsletter to get folks excited! You might want to PRINT OUT this information so you have all the details! Tickets Sell, sell, sell! Please sell your party tickets and raffle tickets..this is important so that we can give that money back to the community! Get more tickets/turn in your money and unsold tickets (none!) to Teresa Eicher or Lynn Anglesey at First American by March 16 or at the Convention Center on 3/17. If we sell ALL 500 of our raffle tickets, we could net about $9,500.which is awesome! But you have to sell them! Teresa and Lynn can get you more tickets as well if you sell all of yours (or they are available at Legends Bookstore, Juniper, and Buffalo Jump). Silent Auction Please turn in all items upstairs of Wells Fargo by Friday March 10. If you know something is coming the next week, write up an auction slip and just turn in the slip with a note. Leslie Hudson and team will be putting packages together at Wells Fargo upstairs on Sunday March 12 at 1:00 pm..you will need to enter from the north (back) parking lot door on the right. It s daylight savings time so remember that. If you are arrive late please call Jessica Martinez or Leslie Hudson Please show up to help these ladies! And we will need to haul all the items to the Convention Center on Friday the 17 th as well so big vehicles are helpful luckily the trip is only 2 blocks! Decorations and Setup We will decorate Friday (beginning at 8 am till we are tired) and then again at 8 am Saturday morning until we are done. You do not need to be there the entire time, and we can use your help even if you stop in for a little while. Meet at the Convention Center at 8 am if you are available! Food On Friday and Saturday, you can stop in up in the kitchen to offer your assistance there as well. We also need help the evening of the party to replenish food, which doesn t take a lot of time. Wine Wine will be delivered by the Irma and Theresa on Saturday morning. We need wine pourers! This is a fun job and a great way if you are new member to take in all the happenings of the party. You can also sign up your spouse if desired. Leslie is helping with a cooler for the white wine so we won t have to ice as much of it. We need about 4-5 coolers (with blue ice packs in the bottom if you have them).write your name on them. Also electronic wine openers if you d let us borrow them! Please be sure to keep track of that yourself! Other Details What to wear? Anything that goes with our theme and wear your NAMETAG! Please be there the night of the party at 6 pm so we can have some wine/food and take a group photo! Your spouse/guest can come at that time as well. Cleanup Sunday! A party of 500 people makes a bit of a mess, so if you can help out once the party is over taking down tables, packing up items, taking our garbage, sweeping the floors, etc. that is greatly appreciated. The more people, the faster it goes. We will start Sunday morning at 8:30 am. Again, if you get there a little late, better than nothing! Any questions, please just ask a committee chair, or any vet. Let s make this the BEST PARTY EVER! In Soroptimist Service, Theresa

3 Something for everyone! Wondering what wines you might be able to sample at the upcoming Wine Tasting party? We have the list! There will be something for everyone ~ from Boones Farm Strawberry Hill to Cannonball Cabernet Sauvignon. All of these wines have been carefully selected by the Wine Committee. Take a few minutes to review the list and design your tasting plan for Saturday, March 18th! Or take a little time to study these labels and increase your expertise. Put that new knowledge to work as a wine pourer for the party! A big thank you goes out to all of the hard working club members who have expended much time and energy to make the wine tasting party a success! When you see them, please take a moment to say an extra thank you to each of the women who have led the committees for this event. 5 Accepting Nominations! The nominating committee for officers consists of Leslie Augedahl, Nyla Brotherton and Linda Tremelling. Please consider running for an officer or board position as they are very rewarding! The offices that are open include: President-Elect Treasurer Secretary Board Member (2 yr position) If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact one of these ladies! And if you are asked to run, please seriously consider it - - we all need to work as a team to keep our club great! ~ Theresa International Project At the most recent Board Meeting Children of Peace International was selected as the recipient of the $500 annual grant to an international project. This money will go to support the efforts of Tanya Raile, our local member who will be traveling to Viet Nam this month with this organization. Tanya will be giving a presentation at our May program meeting. Be sure to mark your calendars to hear about this great organization. Grant follow-up Cody Meals on Wheels was one of the recent grant recipients of Soroptimist funds. Their grant was used to purchase a set of new food movers. These insulated bags are used by devoted volunteers to deliver warm meals to home-bound individuals. Now, when the meals arrive the recipients will see that Cody Soroptimist International cares about them as well. Page 5 NEW SL ET TE R T ITL E

(image below) They also had a chance to share their creations and happy wishes with residents of the Absorka Living Center. In the image to the right you can see the joy on the faces of both givers and recipients. 44 T H C L U B Y E AR Page 6
