We have the classic varieties of hardonnay, Semillon and Riesling mixed with the new faces on the block of Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. We also have something very different in the Sepp Gruner Veltliner. Gruner Veltliner is a grape variety native to Austria and also grown in the zech Republic but hardly anywhere else. It is an aromatic white grape made into styles that are designed for young drinking and generally needs to be drunk with food. It is points of difference like this that we like to be able to offer. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. 2 normal price per bottle SAVE Pikes Gills Farm Viognier 2008 Englishman Henry Pike immigrated to South Australia in He settled in the small town of Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills and in 1886 established the family brewing business called H. Pike & o. Henry Pike s great grandson Edgar was well established in the wine industry as a private vigneron and as a vineyard manager for a large proprietary wine company. His sons, Andrew and Neil, have both followed in their father s footsteps. Since graduating from Roseworthy Agricultural ollege both have become profi cient in their separate fi elds within the wine industry. Together they established Pikes in 1984 in the beautiful lare Valley and have prided themselves on making premium table wines that refl ect variety, vintage and regional characteristics. Region: lare Valley, South Australia. olour: Medium green with yellow tints. Bouquet: Subtle aromas of stone fruits and white peach, musk and honeydew melon with a touch of struck match adding complexity. Palate: The palate is soft and medium bodied with stonefruit and honeysuckle fl avours to the fore. Lindsay s passion and fascination in wine began in the mid 1970 s and by the mid 1980 s he decided to follow his dream by establishing Paringa Estate. Paringa Estate s fi rst vintage was in 1988 with a mere 3 tonnes of fruit. By vintage 2000 production had grown to 78 tonnes of fruit, and by 2008 production had grown to 220 tonnes (16,000 cases). The incredible list of awards that Paringa Estate has collected with their wines, particularly over the past 10 years are testament to the quality of the wines and the passion of the people who have made them. Region: Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. olour: Bright straw in colour. Bouquet: A fruit driven aroma with citrus and stone fruit characteristics. Palate: The palate displays tropical and stone fruit fl avours combined with subtle nutty barrel ferment characters and good acidity. ellar: Drink beautifully now up to Food match: Steamed Mussels. From the Paringa can arguably lay claim as the best producer buying team: in the Mornington Peninsula. This wine is named in honour of Margaret, Peter Lehmann s wife, who is a proclaimed champion of Barossa Semillon and a feisty supporter of all good things Barossan, including Peter himself. Their faith has been challenged over the past 30 years, but at Peter Lehmann, they made a commitment to their growers to champion Barossa Semillon to the world with all the energy and passion they could muster. In so doing these old vineyards are preserved by their growers and they re rewarded with access to a rich choice of vineyards to select the very fi nest Semillon for the Margaret Barossa Semillon each year. Region: Barossa, South Australia. olour: Bright green gold in colour. Bouquet: Lifted aromas of lemon and honey. Palate: A zesty palate of honey, lemon fl ower and citrus characters with a hint of lonalin. It has good length, fi nishes cleanly. ellar: Drinking beautifully now up to Food match: Deep fried white bait. From the Peter Lehmann are legends in the Barossa, and this Semillon buying team: really delivers. 5 normal price per bottle SAVE Sepp Gruner Veltliner 2007 The Moser family is one of Austria s grand, traditional viticultural dynasties. Since 1848, the knowledge of wine has been passed on from generation to generation. Without a doubt, the most famous descendant of this family is the renowned viticulture pioneer Dr. Lenz Moser, who in the 1950s developed the high training system of the vine - the so-called Lenz Moser system. Through this, he made the work in the vineyards easier, not only in Austria, but also in many other wine-growing countries. Lenz s sons Sepp and Laurenz took over the running of the business in the second half of the 20th century. Today, the enterprise is run by Sepp s son, Nikolaus, who sticks to the structure established by his father and cultivates vineyards in Lower Austria as well as in Burgenland. In 1991, Nikolaus began assisting his father in the enterprise, and in 2000 assumed complete responsibility. Region: Kremstal, Austria. olour: Vivid yellow. Bouquet: The nose displays spice and exotic fruits. Palate: The palate is mild with fruit characters, minerality and oak. 6 normal price per bottle SAVE Jacobs reek Steingarten Riesling 2007 In 1962, Orlando Wines established the Steingarten vineyard on a steep eastfacing rocky outcrop on the western edge of the Barossa ranges, less than one and a half miles from founder Johann Gramp s original vineyard. Named in honour of this iconic vineyard, Jacob s reek Steingarten Riesling is made from a small number of hand selected cool climate Riesling vineyards in the higher altitude ranges of the Barossa region. Jacob s reek Steingarten is considered benchmark Riesling from Australia and represents the very best Riesling on offer from Jacob s reek. Region: Barossa Valley, South Australia. olour: Vibrant pale green. Bouquet: Ripe lime citrus aromas with a backdrop of lemon blossom and musk nuances. 7 normal price per bottle SAVE raggy Range Old Renwick Sauvignon Blanc 2008 This is a great Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc vineyard, simply because of its location, soil type and vine age. Marlborough Winemakers have a strong preference for the earliest ripening stony soil vineyards, because they produce wines with the most distinctive structure and beautifully elegant and complex fruit characters. The Old Renwick Vineyard is just that, located between Blenheim and Renwick on the old stony bed of the Omaka River, this is one of the fi rst vineyards to ripen in Marlborough. The vines planted here in 1989 are mature, low cropping and produce wines with a distinctive minerality. Region: Marlborough, New Zealand. olour: Very pale colour with tinges of green. Bouquet: Vibrant aromas of lime, herbs, gooseberry and steel. Palate: The palate is linear and concentrated with bright herb and lime characters, supported by a slatey wet stone texture and lively natural acidity.
