1 Loyal Order of Moose North Port Family Center Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL I would like to welcome back our members that have been away and are back for the winter. Don't forget to come in on Sundays to cheer on your favorite NFL team and enjoy our Sunday menu from our Chef Shawn. Make sure you sing up for our Tampa Bay Buccaneer vs. Atlanta on November 17th. Cost and signup sheet is posted on bulletin board. Let's get a full bus. Thanks to The Moose Riders for being our Man of the Month. A special welcome to Pete Karuba as our newest Trustee. Thank you WOTM for a very nice and great Christmas in October dinner and the activities that followed. We are still in the need for donations for our expansion fund. We have already received the schedule for completion of our tiki bar. Thank you to all who have contributed to making this expansion possible. Thank you all who played and made our annual golf outing a great success. Don t forget to come out for the Queen of Hearts. Fraternally, Ken Lipp, Governor A Burden, heavy to one is borne lightly by many. November The Friendliest Lodge There Is Administrator s Message Are you kidding me, it s only 55 days until CHRISTMAS! I guess the older you get, the faster time flies, and for me, that is a given. Get out there to the madhouses, called stores, fight for those extra special gifts for the kids and grandkids, then come home and collapse! Go for it, Lynn! (my wife) I will remain true to form and wait until the last minute for gift shopping and have it all done in about an hour. Then will gripe about putting up the Christmas decorations and gripe again in January when they come down. I know I m Scrooge personified! Well, you can see that Pat Ballauer has already put up the Christmas tree at the lodge. Way to go, Pat, make the season get here even sooner! (Bah, humbug!) Actually, if you are into Christmas trees, ours looks pretty good. Speaking of the Holidays, remember the Christmas Parade, the Hayride, all that chili and hot dogs for the 400 kids that come to the lodge after both events. I know, you just can t wait!! Congratulations to the North Port Moose Riders, November s Men & Women of the Month. Governor s Report If you have read the bulletin board (yes, there is one there), you will have noticed that our expansion project will be completed by Absolute Aluminum in mid December. Hallelujah!!, finally we have a place to go outside to enjoy the Florida winter that all the snowbirds come here every year to enjoy. I will be glad to go out there to smoke my cigars and I am sure that if and when we do go non-smoking, we can welcome back some members that have problems with the smoke inside. Are you looking at the slide shows on our TV s? Have you noticed that the amount of individuals and/or businesses advertising have not really increased? Same ole, Same ole! Now think about this. If you want to help a friend celebrate some occasion or event, why not put it up on the slide show. Fifteen dollars ($15.00) can put your blurb up here for the entire month you wish. Birthdays, Anniversaries, Get Well or Recovery Wishes, or just poking a friend over something. How can you beat $15.00 to have it seen by everyone at the lodge for an entire month. Continued on page 2
2 2 Administrator s Message continued Not long enough or you have a business or hobby you want to advertise. One Hundred ($100) will put it up there for the entire year!!! And set up of the slide is FREE!! Go to the newspapers, or have flyers printed to advertise and see what you will cost you for a year. Surely, nowhere near our prices. Think about it!! Want to do it? See any officer or the Administrator and your ad will be up in lights as soon as possible. I know you have heard this before, but if you want your name added to the Expansion Fund Donor Board situated right by the new door, see an officer and donate $100. We are very near our goal for this and your donation may be the one to put us over the top. And even we reach our goal, the patio will need to be furnished, and your donation can help out with that. Oh man, I can feel the cool breezes out there right now. Do not forget! Our application fees for joining the Loyal Order of Moose is now $40 versus the old $60. Then too, if you can sign up two new members, that pays your dues FREE for the next year. And how about the Moose Legion (the Degree of Service)? Application fees for that has been reduced from $27 per year to just TEN BUCKS ($10). Why not take advantage and join our Moose Legion in serving the Lodge, now that the price is so low. I am not only a Fellowship Degree holder, but also a Moose Legionnaire, and you can do likewise for a paltry sum of money. Why wait for the application fees to go back up, join now! Come in and see me anytime in the office or social quarters, have a drink, beer or something to eat, watch some football on Sunday, listen to some great karaoke, and visit your fellow members at the North Port Moose Lodge. Larry Brown, Administrator The Poinsettia Parade and Festival will take place on December 14. Watch for more information about being in the parade with the Moose float. Tuesday, December 3, is COOKIE DAY It will be a fun time for the ladies as we start the party at 1:00 PM. You will need two three dozen cookies Or Homemade candy Or Cupcakes Bring whatever is your special holiday treat. In addition to the exchange we will play games, have prizes and a raffle. If you want to have lunch before or during the exchange the Moose Lodge kitchen is open from 11 until 2:30 p.m. Start off the holiday season with a day of fun and sweets There is a pre sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.

5 5 Women of the Moose, Chapter 1892 Thank you to all who attended our Christmas in October dinner; what a super turnout and a great success on the pound auction. On Nov. 30 we will be having our Toy Drive. Please bring an unwrapped toy, we will also be having an ugliest Christmas shirt contest, 50/50, and raffles. Festivities will start at 5:00 PM. From now through April 2014 we will be collecting donations for Mooseheart School. The goal is $7 million and as of now we have $3 million. Women of the Moose dinner will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23 with a cake walk to follow. Fraternally, Kelly Buckhalter, Senior Regent Pro-Tem WOMEN OF THE MOOSE EXTEND A BIG THANK YOU! To all our members and guest who donated for the Pink Ribbons. Dollars for Mammograms is a very worthy organization. We are planning on doing this again next year bigger and better. Hopefully, we can get some of our men to model some exotic bras that the women will make. Think of a Cake Walk as exercise. After you eat the delicious dinner the Women of the Moose prepare, you walk it off in the cake walk. Then you buy a cake to replace all those calories you just burned during the cake walk. Good exercise! Congratulations to Chapter 1892 s Woman of the Month of November: Pat Ballauer Christmas Toy Drive and More On Saturday, November 30, the Women of the Moose are getting serious about Christmas, especially for the children in our community who may not get much from Santa. To help out, they are holding a Toy Drive; an opportunity for you to bring in new, unwrapped toys for distribution to local kids. This gives everyone a month to stop in a store and get something to drop off. Wear your ugliest Christmas shirt when you drop off the toys and you may win the prize for the ugliest Christmas shirt. Even if you don t have an ugly Christmas shirt, drop off your toys, play some 50/50 and stay for the raffles. A lot of fun is planned and it all starts at 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 30.

Our prices have increased over the last two years with no increase to our members as the Lodge has absorbed the added cost. With the last increase on October 1, we have no other option than to increase our prices. On to better news we will be starting on the outside area the beginning of November. Because we re private, tax laws prohibit the Lodge itself from soliciting new members. It is up to you the member to recruit others like yourself; someone who enjoys the privileges of Moose membership and who wants to make his community a better place. Right now you can sponsor a new member into the Moose and that person won t have to pay any enrollment fees. If you sponsor two members within a year (May to April) you won t have to pay the next year s dues. Help us out because without new members we can t grow and eventually, survive. Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, Tossed Salad - $8 per person. Have fun, play and eat. Great Food, Great Friends.
