3 A word from the Rev... Welcome to the 2018 Beer Festival at Saint Mary s Church here in the centre of Witney. In September this year we celebrate 775 years of serving the people of Witney from this, the new church. Outreach across our town is of vital importance as the church is the parish church of all who live across the town. As Rector of Witney it is a delight to extend a welcome to you as you come to this ancient building which has been at the centre of our community for many centuries. We don t receive any government funding for the upkeep of this building - it is down to us, the people of Witney. As part of this the monies from the last two festivals we have a new lighting scheme which we invite you to enjoy. Do come and find me if you d like to know more about how you can support what is going on. It s a great opportunity to celebrate and we hope you ll want to come back on 8 September this year for an Oktoberfest to celebrate 775 years. You support ensures that this ancient church will be here for centuries to come. Programme_2018.indd 3 24/04/ :50:33

11 If you re wondering what (besides organising this beer festival) we do as members of Witney Round Table, then read on. We are a group of young men who aim to support our local community, help out where we can and get involved in events where possible. We meet at least once a month (in a pub, obviously) to socialise, catch-up with upcoming events and donation requests and 9 times out of 10 go on for a bite to eat. Some of the events we ve done in the past are karting, clay pigeon shooting, brewery tours, ghost tours and family BBQs and get-togethers. We ve even done landscaping for a local school and painted a Church! So us, tweet us, Facebook us or grab someone here today and #domore. witneyroundtable@gmail.com witney499 And please get in touch if you d like to sponsor a barrel in next year s beer festival!
