1 Contact: Eric Radovich Washington Beer Commission Phone: (206) April 18, 2017 For immediate release Tantalizing Beer List Announced for New Tri-Cities Event Craft Beer Tasting Festival set for Saturday, April 29 The Washington Beer Commission is proud to announce the 115 unique craft beers that will pour at the inaugural Tri-Cities Craft Beer Festival. This inaugural tasting event takes place Saturday, April 29, between noon and 6pm at the Southridge Sports and Events Complex. Thirty-six Washington state breweries will be on hand with knowledgeable owners, brewers, or brewery representatives serving up these creative and delicious local brews. The commission's inaugural Tri-Cities Craft Beer Festival hopes to duplicate the success of the Spokane, Bremerton, Tacoma, and Everett tasting festivals which have grown to average better than 3,000 attendees per event over the last several years. Tasting festivals are a great marketing tool for the state's breweries and the primary source of income for the Washington Beer Commission. All event proceeds get reinvested in the marketing and promotion of Washington state craft beer and its 353 statewide breweries. Here is the list of amazing beers pouring at the inaugural Tri-Cities Craft Beer Festival: Bale Breaker Brewing - Yakima 1) Topcutter IPA Our flagship IPA is a well-balanced yet aggressive West Coast IPA that showcases Yakima Valley hops at their finest. Late additions of Simcoe, Citra, Loral, and Mosaic give this beer its complex citrus, fruity, and floral aroma and flavor. Named for a unique piece of farm equipment that removes hop vines from the trellis during the annual hop harvest, Topcutter IPA delivers loads of hoppiness all year long. 6.8% ABV / 70 IBU 2) Bottomcutter IIPA Double dry-hopped with homegrown Yakima hops, Bottomcutter IIPA may be light in color but is packed with citrus and pine hop character. This Imperial IPA is brewed to finish dry, perfect for

2 the combination of Citra, Simcoe, and Ekuanot hops. As the bottomcutter is a tractor that leads the topcutter through the fields during harvest, this beer will lead to a new appreciation for our valley s hops. 8.2% ABV / 100 IBU 3) Raging Ditch Dry-Hopped Blonde Named for the maze of irrigation ditches that flow throughout the Yakima Valley s rich farmland, Raging Ditch Dry-Hopped Blonde will quench a drinker s thirst on a hot summer afternoon. While on the lighter side, Bale Breaker s newest seasonal beer is dry-hopped with two exciting new hop varieties. Ekuanot imparts the bright citrus hop notes, while the still-experimental hop variety, HBC344, provides a touch of tropical fruit character. 5.3% ABV / 20 IBU Black Raven Brewing - Redmond 1) Trickster India Pale Ale Well balanced IPA, light fruit, citrus and piney hop aroma with a full hop flavor and balanced malt background. 6.9% ABV / 70 IBU 2) CoCo Jones Coconut Porter Rich brown porter with caramel and chocolate flavors harmonized with freshly toasted coconut. 5.6% ABV / 38 IBU Blewett Brewing - Leavenworth 1) Crikside Citra IPA Our Crikside Citra IPA is a homage to a benchmark of the American IPA style. It s brewed in a traditional Northwest style; American base malt and crystal malt create the big body and supporting grainy sweetness, while Citra and Mosaic hops deliver pronounced citrus with a dominant grapefruit aroma and flavor. LupuLN2 is the lupulin extracted from the whole hop during a cryogenic process. The result is a highly concentrated Lupulin powder with a high oil content, strong aromatic properties, and reduced vegetal flavor. Simcoe and Mosaic LupuLN2 along with Cascade pellets were used in the late kettle additions. The beer was dry hopped with Simcoe, Citra, Cascade, and Chinook.
