5 Queen Mary, University of London Computer Science Department (Mile End Campus) at Mile End Road Thursday 5 June 2008: rooms CS 337, CS 338 (Dialogue Matters) Department of Computer Science at Mile End Campus (Mile End Road) Directions (by tube): From Waterloo: Take the Northern or Bakerloo line to Embankment and then the District line to Stepney Green. Mile End Campus Detail Map (Computer Science Department = Building 25) The Department of Computer Science is at the west end of the Queen Mary campus - building number 25 on this map. Access to the CS department is via the brick and glass stair tower at the front of the building. Rooms CS 337, CS 338 are on the third floor of this building, up two flights of stairs. Lift access is available via the entrance on Bancroft Road. Visitors using this entrance will need to use the security intercom to gain access to the department. Please note that the building has limited drop-in opening hours. Outside of these times, visitors should use the internal telephone in the foyer to announce their arrival.

Catering in Franklin-Wilkins Building Hot lunches are served daily on the ground floor, on the left as you enter the building after the security desk and down a few steps. There is also a selection of facilities: Three outlets, all of which serve tea, coffee and cold drinks, two of them on the ground floor and one on the first floor. There will be a selection of sandwiches and snacks available. The first floor cafe includes a full time bar. A retail shop is located on the ground floor which sells a wide variety of snacks and drinks including salad boxes. Eating and Drinking There are many restaurants, cafés, sandwich shops, pubs and bars within walking distance of the Franklin-Wilkins Building. And many, many more if you are prepared to venture over Waterloo or Hungerford Bridge towards Covent Garden, Leicester Square and Chinatown. Those within easy walking distance are listed below, by area: Southbank: Best situation along the river. There are also several chains in the area behind the Royal Festival Hall and leading up to the base of Hungerford bridge (including Strada, Wagamama, Giraffe, Eat, Pizza Express). Gabriel s Wharf (off Upper Street) offers a selection of independent restaurants and cafés. The nearest cash machine is located at the Lloyds Bank branch in York Road, opposite the station, about 5 minutes walk from the Franklin-Wilkins building, or the ones inside the station entrance on Waterloo Road, at the base of the escalators. Bureau de Change There is a Bureau de Change located between exits 4 and 5 at Waterloo Main Line Rail Station (7am-7pm). Medical help Advice and information are available from NHS Direct at In an emergency, telephone 999 for an ambulance. Inside Waterloo station there is a MediCentre offering private treatment and walk-in GP service ( 59 per consultation, student/concessions 39). Pharmacy There is a pharmacy at Boots, located between exits 4 and 5 at Waterloo Station, (Mon-Sat 7am-10pm, Sun 8am- 9pm). Photocopying There is no business centre at the conference venue. There is a FedEx Kinko's minutes away: walk over Waterloo bridge and turn left on the Strand, 114 The Strand, (Mon-Fri 7am-9pm). There is also a photocopy machine inside "Waterloo Supermarket", 115 Waterloo Rd (five doors after Sainsbury's), , open 24 hours.
