4 The Big Spring Senior Center 91 Doubling Gap Road, Suite 1 Newville, PA Center Director: Cathy Graver March/April 2017 International Pay It Forward Day - Changing the World, One Good Deed at a Time Friday, April 28th Be the change you want to see in the world. Ghandi Center Assistant: Rausa Roscinski There is tremendous power and positive energy in giving it is a shame that not enough people have experienced it to the fullest. Pay It Forward Day is about all people, from all walks of life, giving to someone else and making a positive difference. At last count, there were more than 5 million people in 80 countries around the world participating on this event. So why Pay it Forward? To encourage all of us to embrace the incredible power of giving. To show each other that we care and that there is love, hope and magic all around us. To know that we may be only one person in this world, but to one person, at one time, we are the world. Make a difference and experience the true power of giving. Many of you may have seen the movie Pay It Forward or have read the novel of the same name; a story about a young boy who did 3 good deeds for others in need. In return, all that the child wanted was that they pass on a good deed to three other people and keep the cycle going. One good deed might not seem like much, but if everyone did something good for someone else, then the cycle of generosity and kindness can spark us to become better people. No matter how big or small a contribution you can make, it all helps in ensuring we are able to bring as much happiness and joy to the world as possible. There are random benefits attached to paying random acts of kindness forward and helping someone else in need. Specifically: Doing good for others can have a powerful, positive effect on the immune system. It can prevent people from becoming isolated, encouraging them to meet new people and step outside of their comfort zones. Together we can change the world one good deed at a time! The possibilities are endless.
