1 SCHOOL BOARD NEWS These are the UNOFFICIAL DRAFT MINUTES SUBJECT TO CHANGE AND BOARD APPROVAL, ,104 MCA of the Regular February 20, 2017 School Board meeting: Chairman Lane Drury called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. Roll was taken and it was established that a quorum was present. Patrons and visitors were recognized. Walt Reller addressed the board regarding reimbursement for the cost of graduate classes taken. On motion by Bill Rask and seconded by Tim Tande, the minutes from the regular meeting on January 23, 2017, were approved unanimously as presented. The superintendent and principal s report were discussed. On motion by Jesse Cole and seconded by Don Hagan, the January 17, 2017 through February 14, 2017 claims in the amount of $43,800.81, were approved unanimously as presented. On motion by Don Hagan and seconded by Bill Rask, the Activities Report for January, 2017, was approved unanimously as presented. Don Hagan moved to approve the changes to Bus Routes #1 and #2 as presented. Jesse Cole seconded and all present voted in favor. Bill Rask moved to adopt the following resolution: WHEREAS the Independence Bank, at any one or more of its offices or branches is designated as a depository for the funds of the Scobey School District, which may be withdrawn on checks, drafts, warrants, advices of debit, notes or other orders for the payment of monies and the Independence Bank shall be and is authorized to honor and pay the same THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Trustees of School District No. 1, Daniels County, Scobey, Montana, authorize the following named officers or employees of the Scobey School District to have access to all accounts of the Scobey School district, including but not limited to the withdraw of funds by checks, drafts, warrants, advices of debit, notes or other orders for payment and deposit of monies: Dan Schmidt, Superintendent; Bryan Pechtl, Principal; Logan Brower, Athletic Director; Jonna Handran, Bookkeeper; Colleen Drury, Business Manager Tim Tande seconded and all present voted in favor and Chairman Drury declared the Resolution adopted. Jesse Cole moved to hire the following Assistant Track Coaches for the 2017 season: KC Holum; Colin Wahl Bill Rask seconded and all present voted in favor. Tim Tande moved to hire Mike Euken for the 7-12 English position for the school year. Jesse Cole seconded and all present voted in favor. Jamie Green and Betsy Kilgore presented a proposal to the Board to consider adding 7-12 Boys and Girls Cross Country for the school year. No action was taken at this time. Bill Rask moved to adopt the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED, the Board of Trustees for School District No. 1, Daniels County, State of Montana, will hold the Annual Regular School Election on Tuesday, the 2nd day of May, 2017 which date is not less than seventy (70) days after the passage of this resolution. The polls will be open from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. The purpose of the election is to elect two (2) trustee for a three-year term, or as otherwise designated. Approval of additional levies to fund the school General Fund for the school year will also be requested. If it is later determined that any portion of the election is not required, the Board of Trustees authorizes Colleen Drury, election administrator, to cancel that portion of the election in accordance with and , MCA. Don Hagan seconded and all present voted in favor and Chairman Drury declared the Resolution adopted. On motion by Don Hagan and seconded by Tim Tande, the following election judges were approved: Kim Fjeld; Diane Bekker; Ruby Linderman BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the clerk of this school district is hereby directed to notify the above named election judges of their appointment and to notify the county election administrator of the date of holding said election, and request him/her to close registration and to prepare and furnish election materials as required by law. If any of these judges should not be able to serve, the election administrator will choose a replacement from certified judges. Jesse Cole moved to approve the trade-in of the 2008 Bluebird 54-passenger bus for a 2018 Thomas Minotour 16 passenger bus for the cost of $60,000 after trade in. Don Hagan seconded and all present voted in favor. Transportation committee presented information regarding creating a regular schedule to replace route buses and feasibility of replacing the 1995 Setra activity bus. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

3 AFTER PROM PARTY By K. Kimball Scobey s prom is Saturday, April 1st. The After Prom committee is once again asking for donations of cash, prizes and/or food for the party, along with help before, during, or after the party, which will be held at D.C. Lanes immediately following prom. This fun-filled party is for all Scobey high school students, whether they attend prom or not, and their out-of-town prom dates. As a result, we have exceeded our goal and will be playing all the favorites and cheering on our boys basketball team at the state tournament in Bozeman next week! Again, thank you so much!
