3 Happy birthday to all the June folks out there! With summer kicking off this month, we hope the warmer weather brings you a sunny birthday! For those who love to know all about their birth month, here are some awesome June birthday fun facts you might not know: June birthdays claim two birthstones: pearl and alexandrite, both which are particularly beautiful gemstones that represent loyalty and friendship. The flower of June is the rose, which is widely recognized as a symbol of love and/or sympathy. June is also National Rose Month! (hmmm are we seeing a trend here?) June is also home to National Candy Month, National Dairy Month, and National Iced Tea Month (great, now we re thirsty!) The famous English tennis tournament, Wimbledon, is played during the month of June. The zodiac signs for June are the quick-witted and clever Gemini (May 21-June 20) and the intuitive and sentimental Cancer (June 21-July 22). Celebrity birthdays during June include Morgan Freeman (6/1), Angelina Jolie (6/4), Liam Neeson (6/7), Meryl Streep (6/22). We hope this next year is full of happiness and excitement, and that your birthday is a blast!
4 Heidi Coffman We are delighted to welcome this new friendly face to our Tanglewood family. Heidi dedicated herself to the Decatur School District for many years. More than just a custodian, she was a loyal friend and loved being a part of her work family. Heidi never had time for hobbies as she was too busy working! Heidi loves the fact that everyone here at TW is so nice, and there s always something to do. She is an active member of our walking club and loves it! Heidi has been such a wonderful addition to our community! Carolyn Moran You will see this sweet smile around Tanglewood and when you do please give her a wonderful welcome! Carolyn is from Olney, IL. She moved to the Decatur area in 1955, when she was a newlywed. Carolyn and her husband had five beautiful children- two girls and three boys. This talented lady made her daughters clothes when they were growing up. She loved to sew and crochet. Carolyn is adjusting well here at Tanglewood and is happy to share some time with a good friend of hers, Doris Greene. She likes the different activities we have here at Tanglewood.
5 Heidi Coffman Lynn Oxendale Linda Ossowski If you see this tall fella around be sure to stop and say hello! It s a pleasure to hear all about his bee keeping and trees and all the flowers he has on his land. He has invited us to come out and enjoy as well. Lynn was born in Michigan and worked in grain inspection before he bought the many acres in Mt Zion. Lynn was married for 66 years, has three kids, 4 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. At 94, he spends his days there cutting grass, trimming trees, fiddling with the pond and bee keeping. We enjoy the treats he brings us - flowers, veggies and honey! Lynn says the thing he loves about Tanglewood is all the food, there s more than you could even eat he says. Better than most restaurants around! Thank you, Lynn, and welcome! Linda is very active; she s always on the go! If you get a chance to catch her please welcome her! We are super happy she is here to stay. Linda s mother lived here years ago so she s very familiar with Tanglewood and is happy to be here. Linda was married for 42 years. He was from a big family so they lived and travelled all over! Linda loved camping so much she and her husband bought 20 acres. They had blue bird boxes and humming birds. Linda has such a green thumb she helps us take care of our beautiful gardens. Linda still enjoys taking day trips seeing places and having fun! So, if you like bus trips just let her know, we will round up some people and head out on a day trip! Linda loves that fact she no longer must do dishes or cook. She can eat what she wants and lets the staff takes care of the rest.
6 Lloyd Crandall Many of you remember Lloyd from Tanglewood in Lloyd, we are very happy you are back here! Lloyd was born at home on an Indian Reservation in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. His father worked the Oklahoma oilfields and his mother stayed at home to raise Lloyd, his sister and two brothers. In December of 1948 Lloyd enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in at the naval yard in San Diego, California. During his time in the Navy he had met a wonderful woman named Mary. Soon after his discharge they got married and he found work with the IBEW, electrician s union in southern California. Lloyd & his wife raised 3 sons in southern California. In 1986 he retired and moved to Arkansas. He and his wife purchased a house and about 19 acres of land and enjoyed their retirement. After his wife passed, in 2001, Lloyd had niece and nephews living in the Cerro Gordo area. He decided to move there to be closer family. In 2002, Lloyd attended his high school reunion and reconnected with and married longtime friend, Helen Leach from Springfield, IL. Her husband had also recently passed away. They bought a house and move to the Long Creek where they happily lived until his Helen passed away on May 28, Lloyd first moved to Tanglewood Village in June, 2015 but left after a brief stay. We are delighted to have his smiling face back here! If you don t already know Lloyd, stop and say hello! T-Village Store Opening Mid June! I m out of toothpaste! I have a headache and no aspirin! I sure wish I had a gift bag. Does this happen to you? Well the Tanglewood team has a solution. We ll have a nook in the front office area designated for those little essentials you might need.
