The hotel is characterised by its authentic appearance and its ideal position. Only half an hour s walk away is the fishing village of Volendam and a 20-minute bus journey gets you to the centre of Amsterdam. Other towns worth visiting are Hoorn and Purmerend and the small villages of Marken, Monnickendam and Edam, all of them places ideal for undertaking all kinds of lovely and surprising activities with your group. Van der Valk Volendam, also locally known as Motel Katwoude, was opened by Mr and Mrs Broeks (3rd generation Valks) in 1973 and is now run by their son Jan Broeks. The hotel, which first started with a restaurant, sun terrace and 25 hotel rooms 40 years ago, has now expanded to include: 129 hotel rooms, 7 multi-functional function rooms, a restaurant, a hotel bar, two outdoor sun terraces and swimming and sports facilities. It is a delightful place to enjoy the quiet surroundings as a family, a couple or completely alone. On the third floor there are two Suites (46m²). With a king-size bed, flat screen TV, whirlpool bath, rain shower and coffee and tea making facilities you can completely relax. In the Family rooms (47m²), suitable for four (five or six people), you can enjoy everything Van der Valk Hotel Volendam has to offer.
