He is more than happy to deliver extra days during the week if needed. Harry also share his talents with Azusa Sister City when helping out with their dinners. Harry is an avid bowler who bowls once a week in a bowling league. He is happily married to his wife, Maria and has 4 boys and several grandchildren. Harry has a motorcycle and he and Maria will take off on various adventures. He especially enjoys going up North the San Francisco way. Thank you, Harry, for all you do! VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH Maria Yoshida is a good helper. She comes in two or three times a week to help set up the dining room for the lunch crowd. She is always willing to help in assisting the other ladies in wrapping utensils for the week. At he end of lunch she helps clear the tables. She is always willing to help Lynda carry her home delivered meal bags. Maria likes to be helpful when and enjoys being among the senior here. Maria has a remarkable sense of humor. She can be very funny at times and makes humorous facial gestures. Maria s hobbies include dancing and going to casinos as most seniors do! Thanks, Gracias, Maria. 5 9

AARP Driver Safety Program ~ 4 Hour Refresher Course Monday, July 27 From 10:30 am 3:30 pm Cost: $15 AARP Members $20 Non-members The AARP Driver Safety Program is the nation s first and largest classroom course, designed especially for drivers ages 50 and older. However, the course is open to licensed drivers of all ages. Course completion helps older drivers refine existing skills and develop safe driving strategies in today s challenging driving environment. There are no tests required. You may also be able to receive a premium discount from your auto insurance company, after completing the AARP safety driving course. Pre-registration is required. June 23 Introduction of nominees at Noon Elections (10:00 am 12:30 pm) Installation of Council The nine (9) people YOU elect will represent ALL meal participants. The council members currently serving have each served 1 or 2 years on the Council and some of them are willing to serve another year if elected. PLEASE support the election process by participating in the nominations, getting to know the candidates, and then VOTING on June 16, All persons nominated will be contacted by staff to determine willingness to serve before they are introduced as a candidate. The Nutrition Council meets monthly and is in charged with being the liaison between staff and all the meal participants. In the best interest of the majority of the meal participants, the Council makes decisions regarding: *Program policy and procedures & Approves the menu cycle *Coordinates the Volunteer of the Month program *Fund raises to support seasonal activities and entertainment *Coordinates special events to benefit both the Congregate and Home Delivered Meals programs, including social dinner dances *Coordinates Coffee Corner, weekly Bingo games and more Spring Hat Parade & Egg Hunt The Azusa Senior Center & Azusa Woman s Club Are available to rent for your special occasions, family gatherings, meetings and celebrations. If you make a reservation for a Monday, be sure to check in before 11:15 or you will forfeit your lunch reservation. All adults 60 years and older and their spouses are welcome to have lunch.
