3 The Craft & Produce Show is being held in conjunction with The 173 rd Ploughing & Hedging Match Entry to the match is free, parking is free Entry fee for each exhibit 30p Junior classes 10p No more than one entry per person per class No entries accepted on the day All classes open to all comers unless otherwise stated Prizes 2, 1, 50p (Special prizes for Classes 27,74, & 80) 5, donated by Mrs Bay Bardwell to be awarded for the highest number of points for cooking and preserves and the trophy presented by the Society. A trophy and shield kindly presented by Mrs Pat Myers to be awarded for the highest number of points in the Handicraft. 5, donated by Mrs Julie Butler, to be awarded for the highest number of points for flowers and floral art and the trophy kindly presented by Mrs Esme Ford. 5, donated by Mrs Gay Cook, to be awarded for the highest number of points for fruit and vegetables and the trophy kindly presented by Mrs Gay Cook. 4 RULES FOR EXHIBITORS!PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE PREPARING YOUR ENTRIES! 1 All garden exhibits (excluding flower arrangements) to be grown by exhibitor. 2 Vases must be supplied by the exhibitor. 3 Uniformity of size when showing vegetables is most important. 4 Vegetables should be gently washed clean, not oiled or polished. 5 The bloom should be left on all fruit, tomatoes or cucumbers. 6 Beans should have a short stalk. 7 Tomatoes and all fruits should be exhibited with stalk. 8 The flowers for arrangements need not be out of your own garden. 9 If a measurement is quoted in the class description, do not forget to check it, because the judges will. 10 All items of cookery to be covered with polythene bags. 11 Fill clear plain glass jars (no trade names on jars) to the top to allow cooled jams, jellies and chutneys to settle to a quarter of an inch from the top. Names of preserve and date to show on jar label. Classes 1-5 & 7 - use wax discs and cellophane covers, or new metal lids Classes 6 & 8 - USE NEW METAL LIDS. (These can be ordered through any Country Market (W I)) All entries are anonymous to the judges. Do not take offence at their comments - they are intended to be constructive.

5 Please make sure you take note of the guidance on jars for entries. Classes 1-5 & 7 - Use wax discs and cellophane covers or NEW metal lids No trade names on jars Label your jars with the name of the jam, jelly, chutney or marmalade and the date of when it was made (including year) Classes 6 & 8 use NEW metal lids. Please list ingredients on the jar. Fill clear plain glass jars to the top to allow cooled jams, jellies and chutneys to settle to a quarter of an inch from the top

10 FLAP JACKS RECIPES 6oz (175g) butter or margarine 8oz (225g) porridge oats 6oz (175g) demerara sugar pinch of salt Melt butter or margarine over a very gentle heat. Mix in sugar, oats and salt, stirring well. Turn mixture into shallow greased 8''x12'' (20x30cm) tin and press together, smoothing the surface. Bake for about 30 minute at 190C/375F/gas mark 5. Leave to stand for a few minutes then cut into fingers. Leave until quite cold before removing from tin. VICTORIA SANDWICH 7'' (18cm) diameter approx. Do not sugar top. Do not turn out so wire tray marks are visible on the top. 6oz (175g) self raising flour 6oz (175g) caster sugar 6oz (175g) butter or margarine 3 eggs BOILED FRUIT CAKE 7-8''(18-20cm) diameter approx. 4oz (115g) butter or margarine 12oz (350g) mixed dried fruit 1 teacup demerara sugar 4oz (115g) peeled or dried apricots (chopped) 1 teacup of water 4oz (115g) cherries chopped Put all the above ingredients into a saucepan, bring to boil and then simmer gently for five minutes. Leave, preferably overnight, to cool. 2 teacups self raising flour 1 tsp mixed spice 2 eggs Add the above three ingredients to the fruit, mix well and place in the greased and lined tin. Cook for 1 ¾ to 2 hours at 150C/300F/gas mark 2.
