5 INTRODUCTION TO THE LOCK BOX PROGRAM GENERATIONS AT CHOPMIST HILL INN & SCITUATE POLICE DEPARTMENT Join forces to bring the elder and disabled residents of Scituate a proven successful program. ~Do you as an elder worry about how authorities would get to you should something happen while home alone? ~Do you worry if your parent or grandparent needs help while home alone? ~What if an elder falls while home alone? WORRY NO MORE! Lock box program: Through the generous donations made by business owners within our community; each senior/disabled resident who signs up will be given a lock box to be placed on the side of the home (electrical box) with the key to the house along with 1 emergency contact within the box. à upon call to 911, the dispatch operator will be immediately notified by either name or address given that there is a lock box assigned to that home for easier access. The dispatcher immediately relays the lock box code to the responding officer. à This simple, proactive collaboration between Scituate Senior Services and Scituate Police Department will save the town unnecessary cost of forced entry. Please head over to Generations at Chopmist Hill Inn to sign up today! ALL BUSINESS OWNERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO GENEROUSLY DONATE TO THE LOCK BOX PROGRAM PLEASE CONTACT GENERATIONS AT CHOPMIST HILL INN at HEALTH NEWS Tips for Winter Wellness There are a number of techniques that can help keep your immunity high and your body in good condition to support wellness all season long so that you can enjoy the chillier months. Get Up & Moving Winter brings fewer hours of sunlight during the day, and per the National Sleep Foundation, darkness naturally causes the brain to release melatonin, a hormone that triggers sleepiness. Exercise can counteract this drowsiness. Add Herbal Supplements Herbal supplements can help support overall health. For example, the supplement turmeric, derived from root extracts of the Curcuma longa plant, is widely regarded to have numerous positive health implications. Get Ample Rest The National Sleep Foundation recommends older adults get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night for optimal health. Boost Immunity During the winter months, when fresh fruit can be harder to find, supplements like Echinacea & Vitamin C from Nature's Way can be another source of vitamin C. Maintain Skin Health You can take steps to minimize painful redness and flakiness or cracking by regularly moisturizing your skin with fragrance-free lotions and herbal oils.

8 INDICIA INFO HERE 1315 Chopmist Road North Scituate, Rhode Island IMPORTANT INFO AT THE INN Delivering Meals to Seniors and the Homebound Since 1969 Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island is the only nonprofit, homedelivered meal program in the state. We have been delivering meals to seniors and the homebound since 1969 and continue to serve thousands of meals daily. Along with the Home-Delivered Meal Program, we also have a Capital City Café Program and a Senior Wish program for those in need. I am excited to announce that Scituate Senior Services is bringing Meals on Wheels to Scituate! If you or someone you know is in need of a hot meal delivered to their home please Call: dbrissette@rimeals.org Website: For a referral to the program. Volunteers are necessary to make this program successful. Please consider volunteering by calling the Inn at Winter Weather Policy The safety of our seniors and employees are top priority; as a result due to weather conditions it is necessary to cancel bus pick up or in severe situations close the center. It is our hope that weather conditions this winter season do not force closures, but it is important to be prepared. We always encourage to check the Radio and TV stations for Closings at the Inn. 8 NOVEMBER 2018 NEWSLETTER
