We now offer a Chair Pilates class on Mondays at 9:15 a.m. Please plan to check it out! DEBUNKING THE MYTHS OF HOSPICE Hospice is a set of services that we all may need someday. While death is not an option for any of us, we do have choices about the services we use at the end of life. Hospice is undoubtedly one of the best options in the last months of life because it offers a whole variety of services. Yet, despite its many advantages, Hospice is still a mystery to most Americans and shrouded in myth. Let s debunk the myths and learn about this wonderful Medicare benefit together on Wednesday, July 12 th at 1 p.m. when Cynthia Rafferty from TriCounty Home Health & Hospice presents Debunking the Myths of Hospice. CARD PARTIES The Center will host a Hasenpfeffer Card Party on Wednesday, July 19 th beginning at 12:45 p.m. The Center will also host a Pinochole Card Party on Thursday, July 20 th beginning at 12:45 p.m. Players of all skill levels are invited. Foursomes are formed on a first come, first served basis according to the sign-up sheet. We must have 4 players to fill a table. The entry fee for Center members is $1.50 with Center membership card and $2.00 for non-center members. Winners take home small cash prizes. If interested, please call The Center at by July 14 th. HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES AND THE IMPTANCE OF STAYING HYDRATED People 65 and older are less likely to sense and respond to changes in temperature. On Monday, July 24 th at 1 p.m. learn tips for preventing heat related illnesses as well as warning signs of those illnesses from a Representative from the Boyertown Lions Ambulance Service. You will also receive information on how to help someone experiencing a heat-related emergency. Along with many other important functions, water helps regulate body temperature. You will also learn why it is so important for good health to stay hydrated! TRIP TO LONGACRE S DAIRY The Center will be heading to Longacre s Dairy to enjoy a cold, delicious ice cream treat Wednesday, July 26 th at 12:45 p.m. with members paying for their own ice cream treats. Bus transportation will be available with a free will donation for the bus or you can meet us there. Please sign up at The Center or by calling PLEASE MARK YOU CALENDARS The Center will be celebrating Grandchildren s Day on Thursday, August 3rd. The fun filled day will include fun games and activities, a kid friendly meal, and Balloon Magic by Jack Hardesty from 1 to 2 p.m. Invite your grandchildren to enjoy a day with you at The Center!

5 THE CENTER AT SPRING STREET BUS TRIP SCHEDULE The Center at Spring Street bus trips are open to anyone age 55 and over; Center membership is not required. All bus trips depart from The Gilbertsville Shopping Center unless specified otherwise. A $5 (five dollars) deposit will reserve your seat. Final payments must be made by designated date. We reserve the right to fill the reservation if final payment is not made on time. All trips are open for sign-up now.
