2 WELCOME The Clare Valley is one of Australia s premier wine regions, renowned for producing world class wines, particularly Riesling. Nestled in the Mt Lofty ranges of South Australia, the region is only a 90 minute drive north of Adelaide. The valley stretches from Auburn in the south, through several quaint villages to the township of Clare in the north, with Main North Road as the main thoroughfare. The Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend festival is now in its 28th year and was the first food & wine event of its kind in Australia. The event was created to celebrate the end of vintage each year and is focused on the fine food and wines for which the region has become famous. Held over two days on the weekend of the 19th and 20th of May, the festival features many of the local wineries who have paired up with leading chefs to blend award-winning wines with superior local produce often to the tune of live music in the beauty of an authentic, relaxed wine country setting. The purchase of a wine tasting glass for $5 at the first port of call acts as a passport and can be used at all participating wineries. Wineries will serve 150ml of wine in the gourmet glass - please be aware that 100ml represents one standard drink (12% alc. vol.). The Clare Valley Winemakers Inc encourages responsible consumption of alcohol and employs responsible service of alcohol policies. Listen and talk to garden experts Sophie Thomson, Kelvin Trimper (roses) and Robyn Powell (salvia and cottage herbs). Trade stalls from plant people around the state. School garden competition. 5 SATURDAY 19 MAY 6PM THE LONG TABLE WINE DINNER with La Pecora Nera Taylors Wines, Auburn T: Join us at the long table under the marquee for a culinary journey through Italy with authentic dishes matched to awardwinning Taylors wines in our enchanting vineyard garden setting. The degustation menu has been crafted by Paolo Vitozzi from La Pecora Nera in nearby Burra and will feature the best of local Clare Valley produce. Each superb tasting dish will be accompanied by an equally superb glass of wine, specially selected by our winemaker and will include some rare selections from our museum.
