1 Moose Family Center No Woodstock, Illinois MOOSE CALL Loyal Order of Moose December th Year! Janitor Needed The Lodge is looking for a part time janitor to clean the Lodge two days a week. The days you work are flexible. The hours are 6:00am until around 10:00am. You would be responsible for cleaning the social quarters, kitchen, dining hall, and washrooms. This person would also be responsible for setting up the dining hall for Lodge meetings, bingo, some dinners, and special events. This position is open now as we are looking for a replacement for Lloyd Slack who has done a great job helping us out the last couple of months but doesn t want a permanent position. If you need more information about the duties, see Lloyd or any of the board members. $100 Drawing AT November s $100 drawing the winner was present so there is no rollover. the winner took home $145. December s drawing will be held on Saturday the 8th. you do not need to be present to win the $100 but you must be present to split the money on the tickets sold. So, come join your moose friends and possibly win some money. See you on the 8th! Good luck. Congratulations Congratulations goes out to Carol Lofgren from the Board, and as I m sure from all members. For receiving the next level in the Women of the Moose! LOOM Board of Officers The Fellowship will be having a meeting on December 23rd at 11am Gaming Night All members are invited to a night at the Moose on Saturday December 15th. We will be celebrating the installation of the new video gaming machines. Our new vendor is Awesome Hand Gaming I m sure that many of you have been playing their machines around town at other establishments. We will be doing a bar Olympics the games we will be playing are life size Battle Pong, Giant Connect Four, Dizzy Darts, And Bags. With the top three places winning $ in free play respectively! We will also be drawing 15 tickets for $5.00 of free play on the new machines. So, come on down and enjoy a night at the club. And hopefully win a chance at some extra money for and from the new gaming machines! Groundhogs Day Activities This year Groundhogs Day is on Friday February 2nd. We as always will have a lot of events at the lodge. Friday: Annual Dinner and Dance featuring Delta Rising a Blues/Classic rock band. For Dinner look in next month s moose call as we are still discussing it. Saturday: Annual Prognostication Breakfast after the event on the square. Followed by the groundhog chili cookoff look on the Groundhogs Day website to enter. Sunday: The usual Moose Legion Breakfast. Pete and Mike Moose Pinewood Derby This year we will be running a Moose Pinewood Derby when the Boy scouts

This should be a great event have already heard from many prospective racers. An entry fee of $10.00 for each car racing with the moneys being divided up between first, second, third, and last. And the January due to the Boy Scouts Pine Wood derby. dining area remodel As many of you know we have been sprucing up the dining area in the lodge. We are looking for people who would like to help out / sponsor some of the ideas that we have. If you are interested in helping, please see a board officer they will be able to tell you how you can help in this venture. Changes to the menu Starting January 1st, we will be having a different option with the Friday night menu. The plan at this time is to create more options than just the buffet. The buffet will still be there we are just adding to it. You will have a choice of either the buffet or something like Ham and scalloped potatoes which will change on a weekly basis. Any and all ideas are being considered so if you have something that you would like to see talk with Candy or a board officer. heart of the Community s hero awards dinner The annual Heart of the Community Hero Awards dinner was once again a huge success. We would like to thank everyone who participated in and came down to this event. We were able again to give out four cases of Tommy Moose to the Fire Dept., Sheriff s Dept., City Police, and the emergency room nurses at NIMC. We urge all our members to visit at least weekly, for the latest news on Mooseheart, Moosehaven, Moose Charities plus updates on fraternal activities, sporting events and other breaking news from around the Moose fraternity! Look for fliers in the lodge to see what will be happening that night as we are still discussing options at this time. bingo I would like to thank the volunteers who make it possible to have bingo every week at our Moose. Bonnie, Bev, Margo, Sue, Robin, Mary, Clare, Jenny and Les. These people are there every Wednesday. Also, a thanks to the regular players, some who have been playing at our lodge for many years. Our profits are used for many charitable organizations. We also collect food for the Woodstock Food Pantry every week. The current Crossfire jackpot is over $ Our last winner took home over $ We have decided to take a break after December 19th. We served 38 dinners that evening with 34 members renewing their membership and receiving their dinner for free. A big thank you goes out to Donna Warner for making the sauce (gravy for the true Italians) for the spaghetti. We will be holding another dinner on January 31, Please watch for the January Moose Call for more details. Kick off the Groundhog Day weekend with a nice dinner and a glass of wine. Bring that friend or neighbor that you have meaning to ask to join for a nice dinner and some fellowship. Membership Committee moose Knots news Winter has arrived! The cold wind has been blowing even earlier than we expected but Hearts Raffle Every Friday 6:30pm - 8:00pm ~Lightning~ EVERY SATURDAY 1:30 PM Join us for the Lightning Raffl e every Saturday at 1:30 PM! Weekly winners of cash prizes, plus chances at the growing Lightning Jackpot! Proceeds benefi t Lodge renovations and other necessary items the Lodge needs. You must be a current, enrolled member to play! Non-Members are not allowed to play Lightning.

5 Volume 100, Issue 12 our fall raffle basket drew lots of attention and we will be putting out our winter raffle basket very soon after. We still have scarves, hats and cowls available for anyone interested. Just ask any one of the Moose Knots members, with this cold weather upon us these lovely and warm items are welcome to both men and women. We hope that everyone keeps in mind the less fortunate this upcoming holiday season as well. Many of us who have tended to our raffle baskets have heard from those bidding on them that the items would make great gifts to friends and family. Our mission is to create lovely knitted, crochet and kitting loomed items in support of the Moose charities. As always if you wish to learn more about us or if you have any items you wish to donate please contact us. Our Monday night dinner on December 3rd we will be serving Beef Tips and Noodles, salad bar and soup for $ We also have a fifth Sunday in December so there will be the Women of the Moose breakfast. Please see the menu page for our breakfast menu. We will also be adding Cinnamon Rolls to the menu. Our Monday night dinner on January 7th will be Beef Stew rolls, salad bar and soup for $ No dinner on Monday December 31st, due to it being New Year s Eve. Merry Christmas Everyone! Women of the Moose Donna Warner, Senior Regent A dinner ticket will be issued to the Birthday recipient after she has attended a chapter meeting during the month prior to her birthday or the month of her birthday. If the ticket is lost, she must attend another chapter meeting. The dinner ticket is valued up to $10 and must be redeemed during the month of birthday. Thank you everyone for coming out to our Higher Degree Meeting on the 13th to honor Carol Lofgren and her achievements in our Chapter. Once again Carol, CONGRATULATIONS! Please join us on December 2nd for our Annual Cookie Sale. We are asking for donations so that we have a variety to choose from. It is also the Legion Breakfast and holiday shopping for the kids. Our first Chapter meeting this month will be held on Tuesday, December 11th. Please bring a dish to pass for we will be meeting at 6:00 to enjoy dinner before our meeting. After the meeting we will be continuing with our Christmas party. We will be having a Moose Legion The next Legion Breakfast will be December 2, 2018, and we will be serving from 8:00-10:30 AM. Heartland Blood Center will be there, as it is our bi-monthly blood drive. As always, all donors are treated to a FREE breakfast! I d like to encourage anyone that is healthy enough to donate, to please take the extra time to do so. 7 Volume 100, Issue 12 The opening prayer was given by Chaplain Margo and a memorial prayer was said for member Nina Ray who recently passed away. Bonnie read the minutes of the previous meeting and also gave the treasurer report. The donations for November to Shop with a Cop and December donation to Christmas Clearing House were made in October. Just a reminder that dues for 2019 are due in December. If you are 55 and older, please sign up to be a member. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 1:00 but most of the time we gather at the club at noon for lunch. Dues are only $5.00 per year. We would like to see new faces. The Dec. 18th meeting will be potluck. Ham will be furnished and everyone is asked to bring a dish to pass. We will eat at noon with the meeting to follow. November birthdays: Judy Snow and Sallie Slack. Door prizes went to Peg, Ron, and Margo. Phyllis won the attendance award. Meeting was adjourned, and bingo was played.
