With sadness in our hearts we look back through the years to the many memories they gave us. We will miss them, and we thank them for the years that they gave to our cause. The first Sunday in May we will honor them in our Memorial Service, as well as the others who have past since last May and those, we will lose in the next few months. Bingo Bingo and Wednesday night kitchen will be closed until March 6th. 100 Year Raffle roken... The 100 Year Raffle was a rollover for the month of December! So, we will be starting out at $ in January! The end of the 100th year is also in January, so this will be the last of the 100 Year Raffle (barring a rollover). Come on down and have a fun night out with your Moose Friends and possibly win some money! BOur Defending Circle Has Been District Karaoke Contest This Year the Woodstock Lodge will be hosting the district karaoke contest. On Saturday, January 19th members from the other lodges in our district will be at our lodge to compete to see who will be going to the state convention in February to represent our district. The other lodges in our district are Antioch, Harvard, Highland Park, McHenry, Wauconda, and Zion Benton. So, come on down and wish our very own Buffy Brasile good luck as she competes against the winners from the other lodges! Contest will start at 7:00pm warmups 6:30pm. The Board Moose Pinewood Derby This year we will be running a Moose Pinewood Derby when the Boy scouts set up the track in the hall on Saturday, January 12th. This should be a great event and have already heard from many prospective racers. An entry fee of $10.00 for each car racing with the money being divided up between first, second, third, and last. Car design must not cause any damage to the scout s track! otherwise you can design/ build it any way that you would like to! Board Breakfast The board breakfast for January will be canceled. Due to the Boy Scouts Pine Wood derby. The Board Groundhogs Day Activities This year Groundhogs Day is on Friday February 2nd. We as always will have a lot of events at the lodge.

Dinner will run from 5:30-7:00pm. Music will begin shortly after. Drawings will be at 9:00pm (moose time). Saturday, February 2nd: Annual Prognostication Breakfast after the event on the square until 10:00am. Followed by the groundhog chili cookoff Starting at noon look on the Groundhogs Day website to enter. Sunday, February 3rd: The usual Moose Legion Breakfast. As of right now I m being told that Steven Tobolowsky (the man who played Ned Ryerson) will be attending some of the events at the lodge. Please check the Groundhogs Day website to confirm. All Groundhog events are open to the public as is the Moose Legion Breakfast on Sunday! Dining area remodel As many of you know we have been sprucing up the dining area in the lodge. We are looking for people who would like to help out / sponsor some of the ideas that we have. If you are interested in helping, please see a board officer they will be able to tell you how you can help in this venture. Burger night volunteers Burger night has returned this month and we are currently looking for members who may be interested in running burger night, which is the fourth Thursday of every month. This would require scheduling volunteers to work, some food preparation and picking up supplies. If you would be interested, please let any Board Member or the Administrator know of your interest. We urge all our members to visit at least weekly, for the latest news on Mooseheart, Moosehaven, Moose Charities plus updates on fraternal activities, sporting events and other breaking news from around the Moose fraternity! 4 4 Janitor needed The Lodge is looking for a part time janitor to clean the Lodge two days a week. The days you work are flexible. The hours are 6:00am until around 10:00am. You would be responsible for cleaning the social quarters, kitchen, dining hall, and washrooms. This person would also be responsible for setting up the dining hall for Lodge meetings, bingo, some dinners, and special events. This position is open now as we are looking for a replacement for Lloyd Slack who has done a great job helping us out the last couple of months but doesn t want a permanent position. If you need more information about the duties, see Lloyd or any of the board members. Moose Knots news Well we hope everyone had a lovely and happy holiday season. It is a New Year and with that we will be bringing you all new and exciting new items. For our spring raffle we will be offering a new exciting raffle option... extra drawings for smaller baskets filled with useful items just for those who have taken a chance on winning some of our lovely handmade items. We hope to see many more people come by to check out our Spring raffle and take a chance to win our secondary prizes. Our mission is to create lovely knitted, crochet and kitting loomed items in support of the Moose charities. Our second meeting of the month will be on January 22nd, hope to see you all there. Save the date, January 19th for our Chili Cook Off. Come down and bring your favorite chili. Let s see how many different delicious kinds we can get this year. Corn bread is also welcome. Or just come down to sample all the different kinds. There will be a sign-up sheet in foyer, cook off starts at 3:00 PM, there is a $3.00 donation for tasting. Should be a great time. After the Chili Cook Off stick around for the District Karaoke Contest starting at 7:00. Our dinner on January 7th will be Beef Stew, rolls and salad bar for $ Our dinner on February 4th will be Turkey Pot Pie and salad bar for $ Come out for some great comfort food. The new year is here and now it is time ladies to consider holding an office or becoming a committee chairman. Nominations will be starting soon. Please let s keep our Chapter strong! We will be having our Annual St. Patrick s day dinner on Sunday, March 17th, Donna Warner, Senior Regent Moose Legion We had a wonderful turnout for our Legion breakfast on December 2! Thank you to all who came out and special thanks to each of the 26 awesome humans who donated blood! In this season of giving, we came out in force and gave. And hey, we get a pint of Culvers frozen custard to boot! Again, thank you all! Our next breakfast will be January 6. We re looking forward to seeing you all there! 55 Legion #169 will be hosting a steak or shrimp dinner on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 6:00 PM. Dinner will be a grilled steak or grilled shrimp and all the fixings for the low, low price of $15! And we will enjoy entertainment from Jeff Trudell following dinner. So, come out and enjoy a great meal, some amazing music and awesome Moose fellowship. There will be a sign-up sheet in the Lodge. Vern Bauman Silvermanes The December meeting was held on the 18th with a potluck luncheon. Margo gave the opening prayer before diving into the excellent luncheon. President Phyllis called the meeting to order at 1:00 with the Pledge to the Flag. Bonnie read the minutes of the previous meeting and gave the treasurer s report. Both reports were accepted as read. Ron made a motion that the current officers remain in office for This was seconded by Peg. Motion carried. Since there will be NO Silvermanes meetings in January and February Ruth made a motion seconded by Bonnie that $100 be donated both months to the Food Pantry. Motion carried. No birthdays in December but Peg has one in January and Al has one in February.
