3 With a tradition stretching over 150 years, Fiorucci s philosophy of innovation and attention to detail has made it one of the favourite consumer brands in Italy, known for its quality and handmade character. In Italy, a country of strong flavours, which breathes food everywhere, Fiorucci is found in the key delicatessens, offering genuine and unique Italian products. This authenticity has enabled Fiorucci to create export markets for its Parma ham and mortadella brands in the United States, France and the United Kingdom, where to talk of Fiorucci is to refer to the purest Italian flavours. 1
4 The Fiorucci brand is the benchmark for the Italian processed meats, one which has grown steadily over 150 years thanks to the authenticity and superb flavor of its products FIORUCCI A STORY OF PASSION The beginnings of Fiorucci can be traced back to the 1860 s when Innocenzo Fiorucci, who owned a meat shop in Norcia, would come to Rome during the winter to sell the typical dry sausage from Norcia, called Norcinetto. Some years later, based on the success of this venture, Innocenzo settled in Rome and opened a shop specialising in the traditional preparation of cured meats. Building on their father s legacy, the next generation of the Fiorucci family through the vision of one of Innocenzo s sons Cesare, expanded the business by creating a chain of Norcinerie (Norcia meatshops) which soon won popularity in Rome. 5 Cesare was known and admired for the passion he had for his business, which was demonstrated in the quality and excellent taste of his products. In 1950 Cesare Fiorucci created an industrial model capable of both meeting the need for increasing production and safeguarding recipes that have been carefully handed down through generations. Cesare s son, Ferruccio, guided the company afterthe death of his father and has built it to its current dimension. In the 1980 s, already the leader in the Italian market, Fiorucci opened offices abroad, setting out to conquer the Northern American market and acquiring new production facilities in the zones of origin of its specialty meats. 3
