1 Highlights: Highlights concerning Products of animal origin (dairy) An increasing issue has emerged regarding Listeria monocytogenes in cheese cheese products in the USA contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Recalls have been issued by several companies across a number of states for cheese products and prepared products such as salads and stuffed mushrooms containing cheese. It is believed that the contaminated cheese has come from a third party supplier, Deutsche Kase Haus. Highlights concerning Oilseeds The European Commission has proposed changing the MRL for chlormequat in linseed Proposed MRL change for from 7 to the LOD at 0.01 mg/kg. The chlormequat in lin- EU food industry should be aware of this seed proposed change. Highlights concerning Hops 13/Jun/2016 The MRL for fenpropimorph in hops in the EU will change on 23rd August 2017 from MRL change for fenpropimorph in 10 to the LOD at 0.05 mg/kg. The EU brewing hops industry should be aware of this change.

2 Page 2 of 10 Highlights concerning Brassica vegetables 13/Jun/2016 The European Commission has published a MRL change for carbetamide regulation confirming the change to the MRL for carbetamide in all brassica vegetables in brassica vegetables s from 0.1 mg/kg (0.2 mg/kg in head cabbage) to the LOD at 0.01 mg/kg. The new value applies from 23 August 2017 but the previous value will continue to apply to all brassica vegetables produced before this date. It is though that the group responsible (who have now been jailed), made millions of Counterfeit chocolates seized in China dollars since they began production in 2014 Highlights concerning Seafood 13/Feb/2017 Scientists at the University of New Hampshire have identified a new strain of a bacterial pathogen that has contaminated seafood and sickened consumers. It is a new strain of Vibrio parahaemolyticus, identified New strain of Virbrio identified

Highlights concerning General information 13/Feb/2017 BIOMIN have released its latest annual mycotoxin survey which, amongst other things, suggests that the levels of fumonisins in maize in North America are increasing, DON levels are elevated in European cereals, Asia is facing a heightened risk from mycotoxins overall, while in South America the risk levels have jumped 62%. Brazil has introduced legislation requiring manufacturers to report the presence of lactose in food. This is for foods with more than 100 milligrams (mg) of lactose per 100 grams or milliliters of the product. That is, any food containing lactose in quantities above 0.1% should be labelled " Contains lactose " on its label. Food manufacturers may also use the term " low lactose " or " low lactose " in cases where the amount of Brazil introduces compulsory lactose labelling for food

4 Page 4 of 10 lactose is between 100 mg and 1 g per 100 g or milliliters of the ready-prepared food according to the manufacturer's instructions. Highlights concerning Berries and small fruit The European Commission has published a Confirmed MRL regulation confirming the change to the MRL for bifenthrin in grapes from 0.2 change for bifenthrin in grapes mg/kg to the LOD at 0.01 mg/kg. This may have implications for anyone importing MRL change for fenpropimorph in Brussles sprouts Brussels sprouts from non-eu countries still using deltamethrin during production after this date. Note that the MRL of 0.5 mg/kg will still apply, however, to any commodities lawfully produced before 23rd August 2017.
