On show days the building will open at 8:00 a.m. Sunday the building will open at 12:00 p.m. During non-show days the building will open at 10:00 a.m. Building will close daily at 9:00 p.m. 2. The Superintendent shall have the right to remove from exhibit at any time, any exhibit, or part thereof. 3. All entries will be released on Friday, July 28 from 6:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 29th. NO EXHIBITS WILL BE RELEASED EARLY. NO GARDEN OR OPEN CONTAINER EDIBLE EXHIBITS WILL BE RELEASED TO EXHIBITORS. Due to health concerns, exhibits will be disposed of. 4. Exhibiting is open to residents of Putnam County, Putnam County Home Extension Club Members and Putnam County Master er Members. 4-H Members are encouraged to participate. Only one entry, per person, per class is permitted. Participants, ages 4 thru 2nd grade, will enter exhibits in the Lil Sprouts Program. 5. Judges shall not award prizes to unworthy exhibits, whether there is competition or not. 6. The Putnam County Fair Association will not be responsible for the loss or damage to exhibits. Containers will not be judged except in artistic arrangements. If using valuable containers in any exhibit, do so at your own risk. 7. All entry tags must be uniform and will be furnished by the Fair Association. A sample entry tag is located on the back of this booklet. Please do not fold up the bottom of the entry tag. 8. 6 HARRIS HALL RULES FOR FLOWER JUDGING Flowers are to be clean, fresh and free of pollen. Cut specimen means that the bloom has been severed from the parent plant with a section of stem and foliage attached. The foliage should not be submerged in the water. Flowers are of one variety and are uniform in size. Leaves should be clean, healthy and undamaged. Stems are to be cut at an angle. Stem length will vary in proportion to the size of the bloom and the nature of the plant. Check to see that the number of blooms is correct. Remember: A bud is considered a bloom. Please do not fold up the bottom of the entry tag. Please also adhere to the individual rules per category in the Harris Hall Open Class Horticulture booklet. Exhibits will be judged based on the general appearance of each entry. D. A and ribbon will be given to the best overall hay, honey, egg and maple products. E. Exhibits may not be shown in more than one class. Exhibitor may not make more than one entry per class. F. All entries must be grown by the exhibitor in the current calendar year. G. Each exhibit of machine-baled hay should consist of one flake or its equivalent and displayed in plastic bags that will be provided. H. Moisture content should be low enough that, in the opinion of the judge, the hay would remain in good quality under average storage conditions. 17 HERBS Coordinator Jane Jackson A. All entries must be in place between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 24th. Judging will be done openly and will begin at 11:30 a.m. B. No award will be given to an entry unless the entry has fulfilled the requirements for that class. C. All single herb exhibits, with the exception of garlic and horseradish, will be shown in water. Containers will be provided by Harris Hall on the day of the exhibit. D. No foliage should be underwater. E. Stem length will vary in proportion to the size and the nature of the plant. F. Leaves should be clean, healthy and undamaged. Specimens may be groomed for presentation. G. Please include variety name, if known. H. To prepare herbs for exhibition, it is best to cut the herbs on the morning of judging and immediately place them in water to preserve freshness. I. A and ribbon may be awarded in the following categories: Basil, Garlic, Mint, Parsley, Savory, Thyme, and Wormwood.
