1 The 2011 Regional Competitions The Sausage King and AMIC Butchers Choice Competitions got off to a flying start with the Outback heat, held at the Chinchilla Melon Festival on February 19th. Outback Heat Over 300 kilos of sausages were served to the public who lined up way around the block wanting even more! Some locals were so keen they brought their own forks! Thanks to staff from Gleesons Quality Meats who cooked sausages all day for the public to sample. Boy, I bet the beer tasted good Saturday night! Thanks also to Luke O Dea for his assistance. We will be in Roma next year and Paul and his team have already started planning the event. Roma here we come! Brisbane Heats The Brisbane North & South heats followed on March 6th at the Boo Bowls Club. 255 sausages were entered and the Competition yielded new Sausage Kings yet again. The AMIC Butchers Choice has grown by 30% on last year with 25 entries in this heat. Members donated their product to the Salvation Army and Milton State School who have both asked me to pass on their sincere thanks for your generosity. Thanks to our army of 36 judges headed by two Chief Judges - what a day! We will review whether to have separate competitions for north and south next year. Gold Coast Heat Thank you to Marianne Miles and the staff of the Kurrawa Surf Club, the venue for the on Gold Coast heat on March, 13th.
