2 Quality and Product News: Avocados: Supply is very limited by farm strikes in MX. Market is hot & our suppliers are allocating Avos this week. There may be supply gaps/less than perfectly ripe fruit as we try to fill your orders. Lettuce transition update: Romaine Hearts & other locally grown Lettuce quality is off as we approach the transition to the Winter growing areas in Yuma, Az. Some Romaine Hearts will show some rusty spines, blister, twisting & less cupped tops. The new crops in Yuma & the Imperial Valley are not expected to be ready for another week. Iceberg Lettuce is already being harvested in the Huron area of central California & will transition to Yuma within two weeks as well. Happens every year. County Line Lettuce Update: Supplies of Baby Mixed Lettuce suddenly on an even keel! Little Gem Lettuce supplies improving. Straight packed Lollo Rosa starting. Super Baby Mix & Spring Mix in stock as well. Arugula, Super Baby Mix, Chard, Mixed Mustards, Turnips & Beets starting. Dry Veg North to South Transition Update: Chiles, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Bell Peppers, Yellow & Italian Zucchini & Tomatoes all starting to ship from MX during the next few weeks. As always, expect quality & pricing fluctuations. Local Tomato Season: All but over. Comanche & Coke Farms have a limited amount of Toybox Cherry Tomatoes available, & Coke has a limited amount of Mixed Heirlooms for another week or two, depending on dry weather. Celery: Is winding up in Salinas; tightening supplies coupled with the upcoming holiday season is causing a rising market.
