Varieties now include Charantais, Galia, Honey White & Yellow as well as Piel De Sapo (Santa Claus). No straight packs yet. Their unparalleled Organic Baby Mixed Lettuce & straight packs of Baby Lettuce are winding down in SoCal, just as their local, Petaluma crops are starting to come on. This annual Spring transition from South to North should be complete in about a week. Broccoli & Cauliflower: Cauliflower supplies have improved, price is back down. As usual, Broccoli is right behind; both Bunched & Crowns are limited & price is up. Growers are projecting short supplies through the end of May/early June. Broccolini: Supplies are very limited; we re being prorated down 75%. That said, we're filling in with Organic Sweet Baby Broccoli, which at this point is a better value! Potatoes: New crops of both Yukon Gold & Red Potatoes are in from Bakersfield. Mixed Marbles also have started up from the same area, but limited to start. Kennebecs are also new crop from King City (Monterey County). Oranges: The CA Navel Orange season has ended. Valencia Oranges in 56, 72, 88 & 113ct are in now, through the fall. New crop pricing on small, 113ct size is very high currently until more supplies are available. Stonefruit: CA Cherry supply continues to be very tight, with supply coming from Stockton this week; market remains very expensive. Cherries from the Pacific Northwest expected in June. Apricots, Early Yellow & White Peaches plus Yellow Nectarines have all started up, with limited supply from Fresno & Bakersfield this week. Weather Watch/Farm Forecast: New crop Blue Lake Beans, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Cantaloupes, Honeydew & seedless Watermelons plus Green, Red & Yellow Bell Peppers have started from the Coachella Valley, Central Valley or Baja, MX, plus Yellow Squash & Zucchini is starting from the Fresno area this week.
