2 Quality and Product News: Lemons: CA grown Lemons remain extremely limited & subject to gapping. MX grown, Standard Grade, 165ct Lemons due in Tuesday morning. Next Chilean grown Lemon shipments should arrive by mid to late week. Lemons are short all around, Organic is no exception. Market is hot, with fair quality at best. If you need zest choose extra fancy or meyer lemons instead. Avocados: CA season is winding down really fast; normally we have fruit through August, but not this year. MX available now, pricing equal to CA. Peruvian fruit is cheaper, but supply is inconsistent. CA quality remains best, & we ll stick with local fruit while we can. Beans: Expecting Fresh Shelling Cranberry & Romano Beans from Dwelley Farms this week, followed by Wax & French Beans next week! Fresh Italian Butter & Cranberry Shelling Beans expected from Iacopi Farms by week s end! Belgian Endive: Availability remains hit/miss for local Endive. Growers are still evaluating the damaged crops to determine what the long term effect will be; we re still getting prorated/cut on all colors. There ll be some available, just not consistently/predictably. Longer term, White will be most affected. Cilantro: High temperatures have caused quality issues; supplies are limited & market is strong. Japanese Eggplant: Supplies are tight, strengthening market! 3 Farm Spotlight: Full Belly Farm Full Belly Farm is a 350-acre certified organic farm located in the beautiful Capay Valley of Northern California, north of Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay area. Full Belly has been farmed using organic practices since 1985 and is certified by California Certified Organic Farmers. The farm owners are Andrew Brait, Judith Redmond, Paul Muller, Dru Rivers, Jenna Muller, and Amon Muller. With help from about 60 employees, the farm produces an amazing diversity of vegetables, herbs, nuts, flowers, and fruits year-round. The farm also has a flock of chickens, a herd of sheep, a tribe of goats, and several cows.
