2 ABOUT SINPOPO Sinpopo is an ode to Katong and its heritage. Since the 1950 s, Katong has been well-known for its unique Peranakan culture and cuisine. Today, Katong is completely different. With a plethora of Western styled cafes and restaurants, large shopping malls and condominiums, Katong s heritage and its heritage businesses are being crowded out. We want very much to keep it alive because it is a part of us. So we re not just some hipster café. We run a full-fledged kitchen and cook our dishes in the traditional way. We don't simplify or fusion-ise. We spruce up the old traditional recipes to keep them relevant. We also designed the entire place ourselves as we ve always believed that we are the best people to build our own brand. So even though we may take a longer time, we feel proud that we did it ourselves and it looks exactly the way we want it to be. The surf board steel-top side tables, the mild steel tables, the tiered cutlery stand and the wall quotes which you see inside, are made in-house by us. That s how much we want Sinpopo to be uniquely ours. Step inside, let us share it with you.

3 SINPOPO S NASI LEMAK Sinpopo s nasi lemak is still cooked in the truly traditional way. The rice infused with pandan and coconut is steamed in a muslin cloth so that the grains of rice are whole and firm. The difference is distinct and the effort truly worthwhile. You can actually just eat the bowl of lemak rice without any other accompaniments. But we wouldn't stop there, so its served with a soft-center egg with assam onion relish, our sweet onion ikan bilis sambal, our famous Har Jeong Kai Wings (we use quality authentic har jeong and not the pink stuff) pork belly marinated in lam yu (red fermented bean curd), our unique luncheon meat crisps (Ma Ling brand of course), a side of Rojak Slaw and some soft yet succulent Sambal Fishballs. Truly the complete Singaporean meal.

4 GORGEOUS MAINS BAKED COD WITH DAO JIO CRUST CHARGRILLED PORK CHOP SINPOPO SLICED WAGYU HOR FUN NONYA KIAM CHYE ARG SINPOPO S NASI LEMAK (for 2) Our house special of steamed nasi lemak served with soft-center egg and assam onion relish, sweet onion ikan bilis sambal, our famous Har Jeong Kai Wings, pork belly marinated in lam yu, luncheon meat crisps, Rojak Slaw and Sambal Fishballs. $28 Sinpopo Sliced Wagyu Horfun We make a robust and flavourful local-styled beef broth and infuse it with herbs and spices. We pair that with our unique crispy horfun and layer it with tender wagyu beef slices. $18 Sinpopo Crab Bee Hoon Bee hoon wok fried over high heat to give a strong wok hei. Then braised in a rich and tasty broth and topped with peeled crab meat and aromatics. $16 Nonya Kiam Chye Arg Traditional Nonya styled salted vegetable duck soup boiled for hours to achieve the depth of flavor a Bibik would be proud of. Topped off with a confit of crispy duck leg and served with tang hoon to make a complete meal. With spicy belachan on the side. $16 HJK Burger Our Har Jeong Kai is a whole chicken leg marinated overnight in authentic har jeong and then battered with a special light flaky crust. Served in a warm soft glazed bun with our house wasabi mayonnaise. $16 Chargrilled Pork Chop Premium cut of pork marinated in traditional soy marinade and flamed for a perfect smokiness. Served with a side of wedges and Hainanese curry dip. $20 Baked Cod with Dao Jio Crust A generous thick cut of Cod fish, with Sinpopo s unique dao jio crust. Ma Ling Luncheon Crisps Ma Ling luncheon meat thinly shredded. Served totally crispy like keropok. $6 Potatoes and Curry A Hainanese style curry full of robustness, served with crispy wedges. $6 Rojak Slaw Real Hae Ko served with freshly cut julienne of turnip, pineapple, green apple, cabbage and you tiao and topped with ground peanuts and lime rind. $10 Babi Toast Marinated minced pork on bread served crispy golden. 7 PLATES GULA MELAKA JELLY ORANGE KAYA PISANG CRÈME BRULEE DURIAN PENGAT CHILLED PANDAN SOUFFLÉ Gula Melaka Jelly This time forgotten dessert is now only available at Sinpopo. A super soft Gula Melaka agar agar prepared with egg white for that amazingly light mouth feel. Served in time honoured tradition with coconut sauce. Durian Pengat Traditional Nonya favourite of durian flesh cooked down with Pandan and Gula Melaka. At Sinpopo, we serve it with coconut ice-cream and house made browned butter croutons. $9 Chilled Pandan Soufflé This cold semifreddo like soufflé of Pandan kaya is cottony light in texture but intense in Pandan flavour. Caramalised for roasted sweetness and then served with crunchy almond streusel and a sesame dentelle on the side. Pulut Hitam Cake A soft and moist cake made from pure black glutinous rice flour, filled with light coconut cream and Pulut Hitam cooked in Gula Melaka.One of Singapore's favourite traditional desserts now served in a cake. Durian Pulut Hitam Cake Generous thick and creamy Durian puree, mixed with fresh Gula Melaka cream, sandwiched between light and moist cake layers made purely from black glutinous rice flour..9 Kueh Dadar Mille Crepe Traditional Kueh Dadar, a staple rolled pancake dessert at Malay weddings, reimagined as a Mille Crepe.
