FREE! April Bugbee Cinema Note change of date! April 20th 12:45 The Notebook In 1940s South Carolina, mill worker Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) and rich girl Allie (Rachel McAdams) are desperately in love. But her parents don't approve. When Noah goes off to serve in World War II, it seems to mark the end of their love affair. In the interim, Allie becomes involved with another man (James Garner). But when Noah returns to their small town years later, on the cusp of Allie's marriage, it soon becomes clear that their romance is anything but over. Bring tissues. Based on the book of the same title by Nicholas Sparks. Released in hours 4 minutes Changes in Health Clinics at Bugbee Senior Center Due to staff changes at Visiting Nurse and Hospice for Vermont and New Hampshire, we will be making some changes in our calendar for Foot Care Clinics and Health Clinics. The April calendar has the correct dates. If you have a scheduled foot care appointment that needs to be changed, we will call you. There will be only one Health Clinic in April.

2 Director s Corner This month we have our first night opening of the year on April 19th. This is our annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner to honor those among us who give of their time to help us operate all of our programs. The value of our volunteer s time calculated according to IRS rules comes in close to $88,000. We could not possibly match that value if we had to compensate people to provide this service. However, in my mind the value is significantly greater, as IRS uses minimum wage rates for the time people donate to us. No one, no how, no way is worth that princely sum. In my mind the true value is at least twice the IRS amount and probably even more!! On behalf of all of us here Bugbee please accept my heartfelt thank you to all our volunteers for everything you do for us. And please remember, this is a sign up dinner and you need not be a volunteer to enjoy our meal and company. It is trip season starting in June, although sign up time is here, and some trips are booking fast. We have set up a couple of new trips that look like great fun so check out the line up in this newsletter. The Cog Railway and the Isle of Shoals are new ideas that folks suggested and we think they will be a nice addition to our line-up. Finally, as the warm weather moves in we will be doing our annual sprucing up of the building perimeter. If you have an interest in helping out, do let me know either by stopping in or calling me.. Len Brown Executive Director Last Call For Computer Assistance Students from the Hartford Area Career & Technology Center (HACTC) come to Bugbee Senior Center to provide individualized computer and cell phone assistance to seniors. The student instructors are all seniors in Computer Technology Applications. Students at HACTC come from Hanover, Hartford, Lebanon, Mascoma, Thetford, Windsor and Woodstock school districts. The HACTC students are available on Wednesday and Thursday mornings only, with appointment slots at 8:45 and 9:30. If you have your own laptop or tablet, bring it with you. We will ask you to fill out a brief questionnaire so the students will know what you want to learn. To make an appointment for two sessions, call Regina at between 8:30 and 2:30, Monday through Thursday. Time is running out. The students are only available until mid-may, which is coming up sooner than you mat think! We desperately need volunteer wait staff to help out in our dining room, both on a regular basis and as substitutes. There is no order-taking involved; no heavy trays to carry. Wait staff generally come in around 11:30 and are usually finished before 1:00. They pour beverages, serve salads, entrees and desserts. They clear away dishes between courses and at the end of the meal and wipe the tables. Steady hands, a bit of energy and a friendly smile are the main requirements for the job. If you can help us out, please call Regina at Thought for the month: Have you ever noticed that when you combine the and IRS, it spells theirs?! (Income tax returns are due Tuesday, April 18, 2017.)
