4 OCTOBER RESIDENT OF THE MONTH Marjorie Hagarty Children: 14 children Grandchildren: 32 Great Grandchildren: 25 Marjorie was born in Nashua, Iowa and grew up in Charles City. She graduated from Charles City High School in Following high school she married Patrick Hagarty on May 9,1942. Marjorie was a stay at home mom while her children were young and during this time she took night classes to get her Associates Degree in Accounting. After all of her children were in school, she went to work as an accountant. She enjoys playing cards, stamp collecting and spending time with her family. Marjorie and Patrick spent 20 winters in Arizona. She has seven children who live in Cedar Rapids and the rest of her children are scattered throughout Iowa. Marjorie has been a resident of the Hiawatha Care Center since December of We are glad you are here and part of the Hiawatha Care Center family. You must be dressed in costume in order to participate! If family members are able to bring in candy for their resident to pass out, it would be appreciated. REMINDER WHEN SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT FOR YOUR LOVED ONE OR WHEN TAKING THEM OUT OF THE BUILDING, YOU MUST INFORM NURSING OF WHERE, WHEN & WHY THEY ARE LEAVING THE BUILDING! Believe it or not the Holidays are rapidly approaching and because of that it is time for us to start our holiday planning! Seating will be limited and we need to know as soon as possible who will be planning to attend. USE OF THE BEAUTY SHOP There is a schedule posted by the Beauty Shop with our beauticians hours which are: Every Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30am to 5:00pm & some Fridays. 11 Christmas Shopping Spree November 14th, 15th & 16th Long term care residents will be able to shop this week. It's that time again for our Christmas Shopping Spree! This is a time for our residents to come into our store and pick out gifts for their loved ones. These items are donated by our vendors, staff, and local merchants. The residents do not pay a thing to participate in this event. We began doing this about 14 years ago because most of our residents are unable to go out shopping during the holiday season. They receive gifts and they want to give one back. So... We bring the store to them! THIS IS JUST FOR THE RESIDENTS! IT IS A SECRET AS TO WHAT THEY PICK OUT FOR THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS. NO FAMILY MEMBERS ARE ALLOWED TO THIS EVENT!
