Transcription
1 Vasco da Gama the famous Portuguese explorer, the man responsible for starting the rich trade between East and West, when he became the first European to reach India by Sea. The fleet of four ships sailed via the Cape Verde Islands down the African Coast, making a landfall some eighty miles past the Cape of Good Hope. This formed the longest passage out of sight of land made by European ship. Among the fleet of four ships that commanded, the Berrio was his favourite. It was the ship that catered to his demanding taste. Different, out of this world, dishes and delicacies were prepared. After rounding the Cape, he visited various Arab and Swahili ports and with the help of a famous Arab pilot, reached Calicut in India. The mission was to discover a route to India and tap into the spice markets of Asia. When asked what brought them to India, Spices was the alleged reply. Vasco s is a tribute to the great son of the seas. Enjoy the proximity of the azure waters and the ceaseless kissing of the gentle breeze, amidst pools and palm trees.
