2 HOTEL INTRODUCTION Location Renaissance St. Petersburg Baltic Hotel is located in the city center directly across from St. Isaac s Square. The history of the building goes back to the middle of the 18 th century. It was the private residence of Mikhail Yakovlev, a school friend of Alexander Pushkin, famous Russian poet. Then the building changed hands and before the revolution was owned by the famous wine trader Henrich Lepen, who sold French and Spanish wine under the F.Raul trade mark. After complete reconstruction in May 2004 it was opened as Renaissance St. Petersburg Baltic Hotel, the 6 th addition of Marriott International, Inc. in Russia. The Hotel is surrounded by the city s main attractions which include the Hermitage museum, the Admiralty, the Mariinsky theatre and the Yusupov Palace. Also it is within walking distance to the main business centers, airline offices, consulates as well as major shops and boutiques. The hotel is 20 km (12.5 miles) away from the Pulkovo International Airport and 4 km (2.8 miles) away from the Moskovsky Train Station.
